Elevation profile (296–470 m)

Wiltz climbs the steep slopes of the Wiltz valley on two levels — upper and lower town — in the heart of the Éislek. This loop explores the wooded heights around the town and shows the classic landscape of Luxembourg's north: deep valleys, ridgelines and dense forest.

Above the town stands the Renaissance castle, which today houses, among other things, a Battle of the Bulge museum — Wiltz was at the centre of the fighting in the winter of 1944/45. In summer the castle gardens become the stage of the long-running Festival de Wiltz.

The climbs between valley and ridge demand a little fitness, but you often have the forest to yourself. Wiltz is the terminus of a railway line and easy to reach by train — ideal for a car-free hiking day in the north.
