The Gréngewald is Luxembourg's largest continuous forest, sitting just north-east of the capital between Kirchberg, Senningerberg and the Alzette valley. This Auto-Pédestre loop follows broad forestry tracks and quiet paths through old beech and oak stands that once served as a ducal hunting ground.
Despite being minutes from the city, the forest is remarkably quiet: you hear woodpeckers instead of traffic, and in spring wild garlic carpets entire slopes. The Gréngewald's springs still supply part of the capital's drinking water — one reason large parts of the forest have been protected for decades.
